Is the farm open every day?
No, please have a look at our Opening Times before you come.

Can we hold a birthday party at the farm?

Are there baby changing facilities?
Yes.

Are the water areas fenced off?
Yes.

Can we feed the animals by ourselves?
No. For the health of our animals it is important that we monitor exactly what they eat every day.

Is the farm suitable for pushchairs?
Yes, it is quite easy to take a pushchair around most of the farm.

Which animals can we feed on the feeding tour?
You will be able to feed pigs, ducks, lambs (in season) goats, and guinea pigs.

Which other animals will we meet?
You will meet cows, calves, chickens, ponies and donkeys.

What else does the feeding tour involve?
We might explore the nature area, watch out for wildlife and look at the views. You will be able to cuddle baby animals (usually guinea pigs or chicks) and hand milk a cow or a goat.

How long do the feeding tours last?
One and a half to two hours.

Do we have to take part in the whole feeding tour?
You are welcome to take part in as much or as little as you like.

Can any one take part?
Yes

What happens if we miss the start of the tour?
No matter, come and join us at any time.

Do the feeding tours still run when it’s raining?
Of course! On wet days we alter the tour around so that we do all the things undercover first. If it is still raining we will hand out umbrellas and wellies, and keep going.

Will we learn about the African Farmyard on the tour?
Yes, you will meet the animals and hear about how the charity Send a Cow works.

Can we wash our hands during the tour?
Yes there are hand-washing facilities near to all of the animals.

Do we have to pay extra for the trailer rides and the feeding tours?
No, there are no extra costs at Shortwood Farm.

Do the trailer rides go every day?
Trailer rides take place during holidays and weekends. (Weather permitting.)

How long do the trailer rides take?
Approximately 30 to 45 minutes.

Are the trailer rides suitable for disabled people?
Yes, the trailer has a tail lift.
