Hello again.
You may be wondering why I was named Holly. Well I will tell you.
One Christmas Eve, my mother had a very important job to do. You see, every year the farmers here hold a Nativity service in the barn. People sing Christmas carols and the animals take it in turn to walk around the manger where the baby is asleep. First it is the turn of the donkey, then the ox (my mother) then the lamb. It is a wonderful occasion and people come from all over the country to see the animals and to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Last year, when everyone had gone home, the farmers decided to leave my mother in the warm Christmas stable so she could have her baby, and on Boxing Day, when the farmers were busy eating their lunch, I was born.
It wasn't until the afternoon that the farmer's wife and her grandchildren found me, and they didn't even notice me at first because I was hidden in the straw. But when they did find me they decided that they would call me Holly because it was Christmas time.
Well now summer is here, school has broken up and all the children and their parents are coming to see us and it is great to see them all!!
The baby lambs have grown now but I see that the children are still feeding them with bottles!!
I have noticed that there are some new chicks in cuddle corner now and the children seem to love holding them!! I heard someone say that they were actually baby guinea fowl. How strange is that because the children get to hold guinea pigs as well, they all look very different!!
The children and their parents have great fun filling in their farm quizzes, there are all sorts of things to find and learn about. I am told that they download them from the kid's corner page, so perhaps you could do that as well.
